Tangled Up in Blue
There are really no substitutes for ham radio/electronics swap meets. Went to a small one this morning - there was a guy clearing out boxes after boxes of surplus 1/2-1F electrolytics, all in new condition for 10 bucks each. They were the standard blue color, instead of pretty logos or designs, but what does that matter? I should have bought the box, and sold them for $40 apiece //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
I ended up buying a few 40Ah deep cycles and a float charger for backup around the house - the same guy was selling 100Ah batteries for $80, less than a year old. That's twice the reserve capacity of a Yellow Top, for half the price. Of course, they're all OEM (Odyssey, Hawker, Surrette, Rolls, etc...) but who cares what the name on the side is - all those other brands are manufactured by them anyway. There was also somebody selling small lengths of large gauge wire, from 1/0 to 4/0, including connectors.
If there's one in your area, it would definitely be worth your time to check it out.
