If JL is good but overpriced, at what price point should they be?

That's because you don't understand the way this works.

Anything that's cheaper than JL is a better value than JL and thus should be purchased instead of JL because JL is overpriced.

Anything at the same price as JL is a higher quality product than JL, proving JL is overpriced.

And anything more expensive than JL is also a higher quality product than JL, justifying it's higher price tag.
hahaha you've def. caught on... thats the same logic that creates many "FANBOYS"

i'll never once try to say JL is the BEST sub out there, but it's my fav. brand out there and i'm willing to pay the money to have it

Ahh, perfect sense. Thanks! Time to go buy some Focal subs!
i would have to say focals and many other lines can be over-priced

doesn't focal make some comps that go for $2400 a set?

that just seems a tad outrageous to me, can't see performance being worth that much, maybe they are, haven't heard them so idk

If it's like home audio, the price difference can be heard. My home stereo sounds pretty amazing, the speakers are $1000 MSRP, got the pair for $760 after taxes, so don't yell at me for buying B&W, at that price they were more than worth it. Anyway, the place I bought them has a setup with B&W 802Ds and a Fathom F113, music on that sounded better for sure, and those are $12,000 speakers with a $3500 sub and probably $10,000-$15,000 of source equipment. You can hear the difference, but after a point there is diminishing returns, but if I had $20,000 to spend, you bet I'd be running those 802Ds and the Fathom.

I blew a justicey load the first time I saw the gothams.
I gotta give it to JL... those look like a million bucks.

exactly i can't imagine the SQ being worth that much...

like the JL ZR's... they'll only cost you 600-700 bucks and to be honest in the right setup it would be pretty hard to beat the SQ, i wish they had a bit more power though...

when you start to crank them, the aluminum dome doesn't sound as good... gives a buzzing noise, i was very dissapointed with them at high levels, but then again at moderate levels they were so beautifull i wanted to cry:crying:...

i like loud music all around i want my bass to kick you off the seat and my highs to make your hair stand, but SQ is equally important to me i want it to be crystal...

so i got the VR's without the aluminum... but i just found out when i opened the door panel to fix a window switch that my front 6, 1/2"'s are actually XR series, WIERD!

Check out the new C5's bro. They sound phenominal. Silk Dome tweeter vs textile (VR's) ... same smoothness only better sounding. I too have had the VR's. I heard the C5's and they were sweet. Got two sets going in the LS next month.

well the setup is just fine right this minute,

i'll upgrade eventually but first i'm gunna...

raise my back seat 2 inches with spacers and longer bolts...

drop 3 10w6v2 ported in place of the 2 10w3's sealed...

and replace the 500/1 with a 1000/1...

i've allready got the stuff laying around just trying to find time to build this STOOPID complicated F-Glass ported box...

it's actually gunna end up more like a T-line because of the way the space under the seat is more shallow in the back then in the front...

basically i'm thinking about the 10's all front-firing with 2 ports down firing on either side into the floorboard recession (if you can picture that) and whats more of a headache, it's all gotta be F-glass no MDF, so that means i'l be puttin about 30 layers on haha

should be schweet if i ever get it done... i'll post pics

anyone ever heard of front-firing subs/down-firing ports in a truck, i'm wondering if it will sound good... i love down firing subs in a truck but i just don't think i'll have the space to do it like i would want

You make me want to stab myself in the head.

got a question too... a w6 recomended slot dimension is

1.5" x 10.5" x 30"

now for 3 should i just triple the slot width?

also lets say that is the case...

then my total port dimention is

4.5" x 10.5" x 30"

now i want to do 2 seperate ports so can i just do 2 ports with the dimensions

2.25" x 10.5" x 30"

or is that not how it works at all? haha
