I only buy from authorized retailers unless I pretty much 99% know it's not gonna go out on me. for example I wouldn't care about buying a zapco amp used as long as its not already broken at the point of sale.

I got a IDMAX for $300 warrantied. I have hertz MLKs for $500 warrantied.. Do you think I care about how "obscure" they are or do you think I'm just a good business person. Do you think I'm broke running some of the nicer shit or do you think I just picked the best stuff for the best price? Honestly it takes some research to pick the best products out and the fact is JL owners DON'T research.

Think about it. If you didn't have this forum, what would you have gone with? Some $500-$1000 rockford fosgates if you had the money? Maybe a Type R for some ridiculous price from best buy? Why? Cause you didn't know any better. Same thing for JL owners - sorry they are just uneducated about this shit. whole foundation of the industry says in doing so you are ruining the very market of the hobby you like. since retailers are the ones who buy the stuff to begin with. once their quanity of buying goes down there will be less companies who actually build and R&D their own product. meaning we will have even more cookie cutter products (designed by a build house and offered to all the major manufacturers) and with less large quanity sales off of the top the price will go up.

think about it this way if retailers didnt buy more than individual customers there wouldnt be 2 year old NIB gear showing up on ebay or big end of year blow outs on items that have changed over for the new model year.

also what makes you think zapco is any better than JL? i know on JL's first run of the slash series they had issues but since then they seem to be holding up pretty well. for you to argue this point you would have to know actual failure rates per said products as well.
