If I wire a DVC sub at 4 ohms, output on amp is 2 ohms?

I have a IDQD4v4 and it is wired like so:

Does this mean the amp is putting out it's 2 ohm load and the sub if only receiving half that or the amp is putting out its 4 ohm load and the is getting all of that or...?

When you wire up your 4 ohm DVC sub, you can either have 2 ohms resistance in parallel, or 8 ohms resistance in series if it's one sub. So it is not wired to 4 ohms. It's not possible. If you have it wired the way the picture shows, it's wired to 2 ohms.

I have a Rockford Fosgate R500x1d.

Says it's 500w at 2 ohms, 300w at 4.

Does this mean the sub is "receiving" 500 watts?

My guess is that this amp is too small for this sub. To have headroom, I should get something that is 1000w RMS at 2 ohms, yeah?

Yes. Slightly and sure, doesn't hurt to have a little headroom

the AVIC was a tad more complicated to wire not to mention stuffing it in a smallish stereo hole. thanks for advice.

Drill a hole and use the proper protective split loom and hole grommets to keep the outer speaker jacket from knicks and cuts, give just enough...

It mostly comes down to weight. You can have a super lightweight cone, soft suspension and aluminum coil on a sub and you pretty much get a pro...
