You can get really good sound quality or really loud. You have to give on one to get more of the other. 170 is not going to be achievable in a system that can play music. High 150's are possible as Loyd proved but to get beyond that you have to pretty much go for broke on the SPL front and dedicate the system to that purpose at the cost of anything resembling SQ. High 150's are more than loud enough for any sane person and most diehard bass fiends that listen to music in their cars wouldn't really know 150 if it smacked them in the head. Again, that kind of volume is not tolerable to a person sitting in the car. Anyone who says different does not know what they are talking about.

humm unlimited, I would probably have the boys as SI build me one off custom components, mid basses, and killer crossovers,

 

grab all the digital Audio Control or Zapco crossovers and line drivers and equalizers,

 

then I would order 5-6 Brax or US Amps (tube) and have Dave Edwards mod the hell out of them for me,

 

then I would move on to Crystal or Eclipse, and ask for 1 custom made COMPx2 or Ti Pro

A pair of 18" quad DP's (when they come out) with like a Zapco 9.0 on each coil....ohhhh!!!!! To bad I will never be able to do it...owell.... we can dream can't we....
