IDMAX problem

I just put in an idmax running on a 850W amp. The sub is in a 1.3 sealed box.

When it hits it makes a sound almost as if it bottoming out, but I know its not. It makes this sound at almost any volume. If i push (very lightly) on the outside of the surround on the top right edge, almost all of the sound goes away.

Is the coil misaligned?

yea im not sure how to diagnose it becuase it could be alot of different things.

I know your not supposed to push on the cone, but if i push it in the middle staight down it doesnt scratch or anything

also, the surround isnt glued down, it just has a plastic bezel that srews down to hold it on. Ive tried positioning that off alittle bit and it helped but I can still hear the noise of the coil hitting

My subwoofer made that noise because of an air leak. It sounded like my sub was bottoming out every note with the gain all the way down. I would check for leaks before you worry too much its easy to do and if you dont find any I would start looking for your warranty(hope you have one).

when i push mine down i hear a scratching noise.. i haven't done it for months but im sure it still does. maybe that has something to do with it?

That means ur spider probably came loose from the cone, one of mine did that so I'm waiting to get it reconed (ID said parts come in end of this month)

It was $95, but I live like 30 mins away so i just drop it off, might be more since u have to ship it. I think u pay shipping both ways tho. (IDmax weights like 25lbs?) so might run u $120ish

Both my subs are blown cuse my stupid hifonics amp. First one is just unglued from spider, 2nd cone is completely blown, I'll take pictures when I get home from work.

well i started realigning it myself following instructions on the id forum

i just got everything back in and it helped alot, but i guess ill have to do it again

when i took the cone and coil out there were scratches all over the coil, so i definately know this is the problem. Hopefully i can get it perfectly aligned tomorow
