Hello My fellow bassheads,
I wanted to see if you can identify what motors are on these custom subs I picked up. They have 12 inch dc audio baskets and soft parts with a 3 inch coil. Weigh about 45-50 lbs each. I also have a weird issue on one of the subs. One coil reads 2ohms at the lead wires. The other side does not read anything at the lead wires. I have cut the dustcap off the sub and checked the impedance at the voice coil former points and they read 2 ohms. I also checked from the positive that's soldered to the voice coil former to the other end of the lead wire i have 0 ohms and on the negative side did the same not sure whats happened to it. I included some pictures.
Regards

Is that speaker wire going right up through the cone and soldering to the coil leads? If so it is likely the wire has failed somewhere (that's not meant for repeated flexing) and it is a fire hazard. Get some calipers and get precise measurements of the coil and see if you can find something to fit and rebuild those. Use proper tinsel leads from your direct leads or terminals to the coil leads next time. 8 gauge right to the coil is OK if you only ever do 3 second burps in the lanes but is not going to last with music for very long.

Those motors look so familiar to me. I see the DC dustcap, those could be DC level 3's or one of the level 4 or XL versions.

uhhh, yep. The bezel doesn't look automotive, and neither does the surrounding wood grain.

You probably did it already, but post this to 350z specific forums or facebook groups, etc. There's probably someone there that knows.

Might be ok to run in the garage in 4 ohm stereo on about 20-50 watts. It may run for quite a while that way?
