What if I were to buy all Boss equipment... Subs, amps, speakers, head unit, equalizer, wire, etc. I could probably put together a whole system for ~$500.

I looked it up and I could get a speaker amp for $80, a sub amp for $160, a pair of 10's for $80, components for $50, EQ for $30, RCA's for $10 and a head unit for $130.

You think if I had an extra battery, big 3, 1/0 wire, lots of deadening, a properly built box, and everything properly wired and installed that I could make a ~$500 system sound halfway decent? Hell, I could even get a Boss active xover and run the comps active //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Bass Warrior said it best. Often times the only chance we hear "BOSS or PYRAMIND" or any other garbage is in a idiot freind's vehicle, in which case it screams PREFAB and RIGGED. Maybe if an intelligent person installed the equipment, built a good box, grounded it all properly, we'd be just a little suprised.

I would probobly use a decent head unit just because thats going to make a HUGE difference.

The subs aren't as bad as some people think, I did an install for a guy that bought 2 of the boss 12s and a pyle 1400 watt amp with 2 30 amp fuses from a pawn shop.

Did a nice ported box in the back of a explorer...would do 144s all day long and we clamped a little more then 500 watts out of the amp.

People see the name and already have it judged, I have done a few different 150db+ setups with the cheap scosche/efx woofers
