I was just browsing around for fun, and I came across this

http://www.mobileaudio.com/rac-faq/rac-faq.html#SEC_Top

Section 5.10 mentions a product called ice guard it is for roofing.

The I did minor research on Ice Guard and found this

What are yalls thoughts on Ice Guard as a Sound Deadening. It completley makes sense to me, I think.

If auto insulation sound deadenes by reinforcing the metal of the truck, then wouldnt you just need a simple mat such as this?

Also im gonna search the forums for Ice Guard I just wanted to put this up so I can get some information by being lazy and not searching.

I have read about peal and seal, and people complain that in high heat it falls off. Im in texas, I mean I think today our outside temperature gauge was like 104. I walked from the mall doors to my vehicle (70 yards) and I was dripping sweat. I guess it doesnt help either that im 6'5'' 270 either haha.

Yeah seriously, you don't want to take a chance with some crap like that. It's not worth the risk of having to clean it up.

Besides, it would probably help some, but it really is not designed for it. The dampening qualities are not the same.

haha im just tring to be cheap because Im having trouble affording 514.97 for 160sq ft of Second Skin Damplifier pro.

Ive read on here the owner was selling the regular damplifier for like 50 bucks to the whole salers who then sold it for 125 to the dealers. Th dealers then sole it for 250 bucks. Anyway I can get it cheaper? Anyone know ideas?

Not sure about all that..

But to go from Ice and water sheild to Damplifier Pro is a big jump.

Why not look at regular Damplifier?

Cheaper than Damplifier Pro and very effective

Damplifier

4 mil foil

.45 lbs psf

Butyl adhesive

500 degree heat rating

Compare that to most other dampers out there. For the rpice it is hard to beat!

Also look in to Raammat BXT:

2 mil foil

.35 lbs psf

Butyl Adhesive

300 heat rating

If you are looking to save money, you should not be looking at Damplifier Pro.

It is quite a jump up from anythingin the market:

Damplifier Pro

6 mil foil

.65 lbs psf

Butyl Adhesive

500 degree heat rating

Hope that helps

I might do the damplifier, the more I read about Ice Guard the less I become interested in it.

Quick question, going from damplifier 50-60 mm thickness to damplifier from 70-80 mm thickness. If I am trying to keep it cheap, but I want to do it right the first time, should I just pay the extra for the damp pro, or what do yall think?

Just figured i would throw this out there. if you DO decide to try the ice guard, when you go to ask for it its know in the industry as "water and ice". so if you go to look for it at like home depot or what not thats what it will be called most likley.
