IA 187 Box question

OK , my buddy has a box for sale that was built by iamamp3pimp , its's huge for most 12's and small for most 15's. Its cut for a 12 right now but there is plenty of room to cut the baffle to fit a 15.

2.8 @ 36hz 3/4" birch and a beautiful kerfed port.

Does anybody think a IA 187 15 will play nice in that box? They recommend 3 to 4 cubes. will .2 cubes be a huge difference in sound? Also i could gain a little more volume by reverse mounting it.

Think it will be alright in that box?

The 187 is a higher Q driver with a low EBP value, so it's going to like sealed boxes or larger ported boxes with a low tuning. There's no way I'd go smaller than 3.5ft^3 and higher than 32hz in tuning, and that's at bare minimum, in order to get a decent response curve for music.

Ideally, it's a sealed box woofer, but the FS is a little too high to have it really dig down low in a sealed box. If they could have gotten the FS down in the 20's it would be a very nice sealed/IB sub for the money.
