I keep that.
I just bought a '02 Grand Prix GT 4 door and I have a good bit of money left over from selling my old car. Now I want to start ordering the components of my new stereo tonight. The car already has a POS Dual HU.

To start I went to Tweeter just to look around and a guy was telling me about JL Audio. Nice stuff but the prices were just nuts... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I can afford it but just seems like too much money. Close to 2 grand installed... basically all my money without a head unit or components Screw that.

I want this system to sound amazing and get stupid loud, after selling my old car and adding up the extra money from ym summer job. I have $2,000 for the whole system, I never installed a system before and wouldn't mind doing it.

I also have a question which might sound dumb, I was watching this video and saw hi volume is on 6 and it's pretty loud while some people turn their hu p to like 20+ to get it to sound like that??? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Any suggestions? Build me a system!

What is your goal for the system? Just loud or do you want it to sound good? Any preferences? Do you want to give up the entire truck or a small subwoofer setup? Are you going to be doing any electrical upgrades?

lots of option for 2000$ , just save aside for 500$ for deadening , wires, install labor

Alpine 9887 350$

Hertz HSK 165 250$

Hertz EP4 200$ or more i forgot

Or gettinga better audison LRX 2.9 from a member in the forum that i know selling dirt cheap for 325$ x2 amp one for comp one for sub 250w x2 and 900w x1 . Trust me these audison is what you really want to grab FIRST before its gone. Buying new will cost u 600$ or so.

then get a hertz HX sub 300$? or 350$ i'm not sure about this sub's price .

Combo of hertz audison sets you around 1600$

Then RCA : 4ch set will cost around 60$ if you want really good ones from ZN or JL audio , or cheap one for 40$ from knukonceptz.

Power : 0 gauge set and 2 distribution block + few feet of 4 gauge to run to those amps . - Around 120 - 160$. It's just my ETA , it could cost more.

Speaker wire 14 gauge should do the job - 12 gauge is better, order ones from knukonceptz as well great price and good wire size. 50-75$ for 100ft or 150ft

Wiring + rcas will run yoouu roughly 250$ ..... we have 150$ left for install //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Well i think my stuff for you is pretty close but it's for SQ wise .... other ppl can suggest something else.

My best recommend is get those Audison amps before it's gone . Other than that you can calculate by yourself what you can get and cut down the cost.

Amp: Rockford Fosgate POWER-1000 25 to Life

"50x4 @ 4 ohms + 800x1 @ 1 ohm " which is actually closer to 100x4 @ 4 ohms + 900x1 @ 1 ohm. It's a powerhouse of an amp. Perfect for an all in one solution.

$500

Front speakers: Boston PRO60SE

Never heard anyone say anything bad about em-- solid performers, take powe, get loud, sound great.

$330

Rear speakers: Boston SL95

Just for the sake of keeping it all Boston for speakers. Pontiacs have 6x9 rears, right?

$170

Subs: 2 Boston G512-44

Dammit all to hell, lets just throw some Boston subs in the mix as well. I hear a lot of good about G5s.

$440 for the pair

Head unit: Alpine CDA-9886

It's pretty, has good SQ, and a killer iPod interface. What's not to like?

$250

That should leave plenty for an enclosure and wiring. A dual 12" sealed box should cost you ~$50 to make, or about $150 to have someone on the forum make it. a 4awg kit for the amp would run you ~$50, and 20sf of deadening for the front doors would be another $75 or so. I would recommend deadening at least your front doors-- it will increase the midbass output of your speakers, and prevent your doors from rattling. Keep in mind that you can most likely find all these items on eGay for even less. I'd recommend bridging the amp to the front speakers because those Pro60s LOVE power. Just run the rears off the head unit. Don't wanna hear those anyhow.
