$800-$1000CAD To Spend. Whole System Needed. **LOOK INSIDE**

Im trying to build my first sound system from a budget of $800-1000CAD. I was going to buy a pre-made enclosure, but I read that I should make my own which will also be a fun project, and I could save around $100.

I need a headunit, 2 subwoofers, 4 speakers, 2 amps (one for the speakers, and one for the woofers), and all the wiring needed. All this has to be bought for $800-1000CAD.

Im trying to go for sound quality, but yet with a nice bang when necessary. I want to be able to hear clean vocals, and hear a clear beat, but I want it to have a LOUD bang when I want it.

So far, Ive been looking at the Type Rs (http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14955)...I was told theyre a good starting woofer as I was trying to get some Kickers that had 1200W before, and was told these are better on a budget.

I need to find some speakers (four of them) that are atleast 300W and will deliver some quality sound. I need a headunit that will run USB, and look nice in person/ and in the dark. And the thing I have trouble picking out the most are the amps as I dont know how they power speakers/woofers yet and what power outputs I should be looking for.

I want the best sound system for the budget I have..I dont want some junk in the trunk..I want it to impress people when they hear it, but I also dont want to spend crazy amounts. I want the system to deliver clear vocals and beats, and have insane bass when setup that way:cool://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:D

Thanks, all help is appreciated.

2 Type R = $260

Pioneer DEH-P5000UB = $160

Phoenix Gold TX6.5COMP = $110 (Would much rather have chose the RSDs, but I thought about wiring costs too, the RSDs are only $20 more.)

MB Quart PAB 1200.1D = $280

Autotek SS 125.2 = $140

$950 USD, which leaves you with roughly $40 USD

And money for all wiring.

Prices were taken from OnlineCarStereo.com. I know I only showed one pair of speakers, but you don't NEED that second pair do you? If not, just leave the rear, and use the head unit to power them? You're not going to be sitting in the back of your car and listening to it?

How are those Type Rs for quality of sound? Will I get the loud bang with bad sound quality, or will I hear everything nicely with a sexy bang to go along?

I dont like that headunit, so I will go find another one, and they can be found for around $100CAD.

My budget is in CAD and not US..thanks for that build up there. Can anybody make up a completely different one with those Type Rs?

Im not liking those speakers as im trying to get something that produces 300W atleast for maximum quality of music. Those two amps are looking a bit no name, and one of them is mono which doesnt make sense to me but then again I dont know anything about amps. I will need to replace the amp for the speakers as im planning to change them to what I said above.

I didnt know MB Quart and Autotek are no named:confused:

and you will need a mono to run your sub, its the easiest way for you to wire your subs up

A few questions..

1. How do amps work? The more power you give your woofers/speakers, then the better they sound?

2. What kind of power would I need from an amp if im planning on using two Type Rs 1500W? (http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14955))

3. My woofer is Dual 2-Ohms, how does this change the amp I need?

Now that I know I need a mono amp, 4. What would I need for four speakers that are about 300-320W each?

5. Would buying these from eBay at cheaper prices be wise? Do you get a warranty with eBay? Or am I better off buying from a shop/ or a legit wholesale website?

I dont really want to type too much because it is 330AM. but first of all.

the 1500W for the type Rsand 300-320W for the speakers are peak power. Always look at RMS and go by that.

1. Umm, not exactly. More power means lots of things, ill leave that one to someone who is better at explaing stuff.

2. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3964

That is the amp I would get to power them. but you need an amp that can do 1000W RMS at 2ohm.

3. Ok. your sub is a dual voice coil sub. it has 2 positive and 2 negative connections. one pair for each voice coil. each coil is 2 ohm. when you wire these together differently you get a different load. If you are running one sub, you would need an amp that can do 500 W RMS at either 4 ohm or 1 ohm. If you are doing 2 subs, you would need 1000W RMS at either .5ohm, 2ohm, or 8 ohm. I think 2 ohm would be the cheapest route.

4. Most speakers are 4 ohm. Most 4 channel amps are 4 ohm. check the RMS on your speakers and match it to am amp.

5. chances are online there will not be a warenty unless the site is an authorized retailer. I personally buy from wherever can get me the cheapest site. As long as I feel the site is legit and trustworthy. I generally dont worry about warrenty, but I trust myself not to damage anything.

Keep reading and doing research on this site. Ask any questions you need. You will find it very useful.

^ Thanks alot for the great response. Can somebody answer some of the questions he didnt elaborate on much?

PS, that Kicker amp is too expensive, as you can see im on a budget so stop teasing me with expensive equipment that I cannot afford:(

1. The more power, technically the louder the woofers and speakers will get but make sure its clean power otherwise they will sound worse if they get a dirty signal. Dirty signals can be due to clipping (not enough power from electrical system to power amp)

2. For a pair of type Rs, if you dont have them already I would go with a pair of D 4-ohms, they will wire up to 1ohm or 4 ohms, where as the D2s will wire up to 2 ohms or 8 ohms. A 1000-1500wrms amp will be adequete for that setup.

3. Either setup you will want a mono amp for. if you get a pair of D2s then get a 2ohm stable amp if you get a pair of D4s then get a 1ohm stable amp.

4. The RMS on the speakers if probobly closer to like 100-150 so get a four channel amp that does anywhere from 100-150wrms each channel. A SAX 100.4 would be great.

5. Everyone has there own prefernce where they buy. I prefer buying on here or ebay over shops, but I go in to shops to test out the equipment first.

I will buy used/new as long as I can get a warranty I guess, its my first system and being able to replace things would be awesome? How long does a system last before something breaks, if you dont max out on things and just overkill it?

And for the guy above, Im trying to go with 12" and hopefully Type Rs as theyre cheap, look great, and sound good.
