I want more bass

theres not much difference between sizes of sealed boxes, IMO. Just low end response tends to be better with large ones.
Just cut up that box. Im sure you'll have plenty of wood left over to build a ported box. Check out niche audio's manual or email them, they should have a ported box design or two for that woofer.

also, what r the stats on that amp?
There's a lot of difference in changing the size of a sealed enclosure..."IMO".

Changing the Qtc has an effect on power handling, transient response, overall output, and as you mentioned, the low end reproduction.

well the box looks big, but it don't look like no 9cu ft box. any ways, you should find out how big the box actually is to see if that could be a problem or not.
a ported box might increase your spl output.

also since youre using the stock HU, are you using the high input on the amp or are you using a high to low converter?

if you are using a converter, then check to see whats the voltage output on that to the amp is, it may be too low for the amp to match it. " just a thought".

now to the amp,

how do you have the subs wired to the amp?.

b/c that amp is rated at 150wrms @ 4 ohms. and 250wrms @ 2 ohms, and 500 to 1 @ 4ohms,

with that sub you can go, series each sub sub coil, then parallel both subs for the final 4ohms to bridge the amp @ 4ohms. or the other way around or just run 2ohms per channel, just make sure youre not running each channel at 8ohms b/c, youll only be sending like 75wrms to each sub.
you need a bigger amp, even 500wrms is not gonna get real loud- resonably loud yes, stupid loud no- get a 1200 1500wrms amp @ whatever ohms you can wire your subs and they will make your heart stop in that big *** box and sound great doing it!

thanks for everyone elses reply, but i want the easy way out lol.. now this is the response ^ i wanted lol.. now to find me an amp with those specs..thanks everyone, and yes im going to measure the box and tell u the exact cuft and to those with questions about the wiring sorry i dont even know how it was ran, some guy installed it for me

edit - actually can someone point me in the direction of a amp filling those requirements? thanks

your not going to gain a phenominal amount of output by getting a more powerful amp. doubling your power wont "make your heart stop"

your subs only handle 300wrms each. your amp is good enough for them speakers.

by getting an big amp like 1200 or 1500wrms all your going to do is kill the subs youre currently running.

Easy way out would be to find out how big the box is, then add 2x4s or foam inside the box to make it about 3.0 cu ft sealed. That way you wouldnt even have to take the box outta the trunk. If it really is about 9 cu ft that is wayyy to much, and i think making it closer to 3 cu ft would help.

Couple things I would do. Increase the RMS wattage with a mono block Class-D amp. Throw some sound deadener on all the walls in the trunk. Those speakers are **** nice and the amp is pretty sweet as well. I see those in many local competitions. The sound deadener will limit the amount of bass tones from travelling beyond the car's exterior walls in the trunk. A good application of butyl sound deadener will increase the effeciency and give you a noticable change. Nothing heart stopping, but well worth it.

A couple tips for you. Use small amounts of expanding foam to help with the hard to reach places inside the trunk lid frame and skin (remember to put down plastic just in case the stuff drips). Use a double layer of deadening material against the back end of the trunk. Butyl deadener is more expensive than asphalt or pvc type deadener, but will give you better results with a single layer. If you are having problems with rattles in places that need to be left accessible, you can use a thick felt or "poster stick" to keep the rattles down.

Try the sound deadener first, then if you need a better amp, go for it. Some sound deadeners have metered results of before and after TL ratings. If that doesn't work, look into getting a decent head unit.

thanks man, and everyone else for your reply, but this setup just isnt doing it for me..so im going to pick up a new system in a few months (wen RE releases the new XXX's) anyways i guess ill just have to deal with how it sounds now..and im not sure where u heard these things but there pretty weak.. lol =/ maybe ill have a friend come over and tune it and see if the guy who installed it did something wrong..anyways thanks for the replies, and all the help..

This thread is funny.. Schism13 yer not listening to any of the educated members.
If you dont listen to the right people on here your never going to be satisfied with your system.
Yea you should really try a new box, and add more power, becasue im sure you will get more of the results that you want. You dont just put subs in a giant sealed box 2 or 3 times over their recommened specs, and expect them to sound good. Box design is one of the most, if not the most important factor. I see your wanting to get the new re subs when they come out, but you will dissapointed with them as well if you put them in a crappy box like you did here. Its all in the install, hope this helps.
