i want more bass whats a better option ???

i actualy thought i had enough for 2 12s
If you went sealed you could do 2 12's. Your talking output you probably want to go ported. You could do a 15!

If you did 2 DC level 4's Sealed it would be nice and loud, but how much power do you have and whats your electrical system looking like?

I'm in the same boat you are. But I just found out the box from skar wasn't even close to what those subs should be in. So I'm building a proper box for them now. What are your dimensions of the box you have now?

who ever posted that the obsidians are lower and louder than the skars ehh.. sure ...

Redesign ur box first off. have someone on here do it for them VVX's ... one of them in a 4th order on 1200 watts would give you a headache in the 20-30hz range period

Obsidian is good... but they can't handle the lows... and thats what skar is a low hz sub... for the money the Skars are pretty **** good if you can keep them happy in the range they like. if you redid the box for two of them tuned to around 28-30hz in about 2cubes net each it would be a big step up... then throw about 900-1100watts CLEAN power to each one.. but if you want to upgrade for louder deeper bass... go with a 15" or 18" and ya you can get an 18" sub in there.. I can get one in my 07 Impala... I can do a 10cube box if i wanted to.

the box i have is about 30wx16hx15d i gota say im not too impressed with it the port seems like its also too small. i even gave the guy kevin different box specs that he didnt even give me anything close too. i shot for a bigger box but he sent me this small thing. i was a little dissapointed, but the subs are pretty nice. they do get low and all but i just wish they got a touch louder

this is a prefab box design that i might copy how are these dimensions its tuned to 32hz and is supposedly a total of 4 cubes of air space for 2 12s sharing the same one big chamber

33"w x 16-1/2"h x 21"d

Put them in a correctly designed box on about 800watts each and they will prolly be giving you a headache.

for what they are.. and everything else.. and all the stuff said about skar -"owner" etc.. they are really good mid level entry subs.

I had one in a 4th order on 1700watts. everyone that listened to it "shop owners and workers" around here.. thought I was running a 15" or 18" in the trunk.

****** shops here and just hood rats don't know much around here so anything decent sounds big to them. but the vvx did shock me for what they are. need a bigger box for them 2 subs.. talk to Ram_Designs or Buck or even Moble Enclosures to design you a box man

am I the only one who thinks the small box might be an issue? 2ft^3 BEFORE displacement... not sure if you mean total displacement (wood thickness, sub, port, braces/corners etc... or just sub/port) so probably figure 1-1.5 ft^3 after displacement pretty small for a 12" I would imagine. My 10"s need 1.25ft^2 each, only 12" I ever ran was about 2.5ft^3 @ 34hz but...

1.7-2cubes net is what the vvx needs tuned to around 28-32 hz.. the sub is a lows monster.. anything over 40hz is kinda crappy on it, from what i've tested anyway on mine.. cept in the 4th but straight ported on 37hz it sounded crappy... going to a 28hz ported box and 32 made a huge diff. in the sound and loudness.. and yeah I would say the box he has is too small.. as i've said in my posts he needs one properly designed. he would see alot more output from them subs.. I'm **** near tempted to do a 1 to 3.5 4th at 47hz on 1500watts and get it metered then do a 2.2cube net at 26hz on the 1500watts and get it metered on a single 12vvx just to show the diff. in output on a good box.. then do one designed at 37-42hz and show how bad it drops off from there

any good box builders on here
looked into dave the box guy but honestly i cant imagine spending all that money for a box. he quoted me for 400$
Mobile Enclosers / Ram Designs / Buck / afew otehs on here.. just build it yourself have them design it... just take ur time is all you need to do man.. easy easy

i wish i had time to build it because i would. ive been working 6 days a week and on my one day off i enjoy it by sitting on my *** and doing nothing lol

i know prefab is terrible because of quality and what not but how are these

4 CU. FT. CUSTOM-VENTED DUAL 12" MDF CAR SUBWOOFER BOX ENCLOSURE - TUNED @ 32Hz | eBay
It took me 4 days to do my last box... about 15mins a day... I would do 1-2 sides a day... glue, screw and let sit for a day... just do a little at a time do it right... much much better doing it urself then having someone do it for you... and so much cheaper... and do not get a prefabbed box.. it will be worse than the one you have now... and that box will only end up at 3.5-3.6 cubes after displacement

you will be suprised how much a good box will make a difference. If you dont have the time or want to do it 400 bucks would be well spent. Theres alot more into building a box then the builders time having the proper tools to build it makes all the difference in the world. buy another 12 and have somebody build you a good box you wont be disappointed.
