i thought kicker had a patent on this...

i doubt they do, or if anything it would be a patent on either the technology that went into their subs (what puts thiers apart from others) or part that are used on it (basket)

I'm just guessing here but I think the reason Kicker actually didn't get a patent on a square sub/speaker, is because it might not be possible (hence why they patented the ridges on the edge of the surround instead).

You can't get a patent for anything/everything. There's certain things that can't be patented for a variety of reasons, often "legally determined", so my best guess would be that a speaker shape cannot be patented (at least not in the US) and that's why Kicker doesn't have a patent on it. (Could also be that someone else had the patent before Kicker and Kicker pays them royalties, but I never heard of that so I don't think that's the case).

i forgot what the name of the sub was but there is a 22in square sub with four different motors on it that looks really gay....but dont laugh at though hifonics unless youve heard them. The older blue ones rocked and some might say they sounded better then L7s //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
