OK so my sub sounds fine when I am listening to it in the car but when I have my trunk open it sounds totally different like its whistling and I think I hear some cracking. Is a voice coil broke or what? I have a L7.

What are the specs on the enclosure?

Definitely could be port noise.

If you think the VC could be done press in the center of the sub and see if it makes a scratching noise.

I did press on it and didn't really hear any scratching but I think i heard a little cracking

well i think i want something with a little more sq anyways but like i said in the car it sounds fine but when I open my trunk to listen it sounds really weird. Its kinda like a whistling sound when it hits and I don't know if its scratching or cracking that I hear.

Does sound like you box may have a leak. Sounds like a popping whining scratch.

Yeah its more like a whining than whistling and some scratching or cracking
