Allright i just bought some Polk EX 5 1/4's they are in great condition especially compared to my factory speakers which were blown so bad it was hard to even listen to music anymore. but i get these new 5 1/4's and just installed um in my jeep they were sounding great with the highs right up until the bass from my system kicked in then they started skipping. the second i turned up the base the speakers began to skip uncontrolabally it sounded terrible. What should i do im really pissed cause i cant even listen to music at the moment. Please help me out. also i have bass blockers in the positive line if that would have any possible effect on it. PLEASE tell me what to do...

Thanks

Hey you think one of you dudes could help me out.. even give me the slightest bit of advice, i mean its kinda surprising no one out there knows what the hells wrong with my speakers...

ya man if the bass is too high the bass blockers cut the sound off to the speekers, that is their job. if there is only a little bass the blockers will just cut that little bit off, but when there is a lot od bass they will "clip" (cut the sound going to the speekers completely). try turning the bass doun on your head unit and contrrooling the bass level on you bass amp, use the "gain"

ya that was what i was thinkin so i turned the bass almost to -6 on my HU but the speakers stilled clipped every time the bass hit. i seriously dont know what to do i just hope the speakers arent trash or anything. and its messed up cause i had the blockers in even with my old factory speakers which were total peices but those never once clipped so i just dont know what to do if anyone else has ANY ideas let me know i really need some help...

Thanks

I think i kinda figured out the prob... like i tried hookin up the speakers to my home stereo and it just overloaded the receiver, which was kinda weird then i hooked it up to my friends amp and the amp just turned off.. im thinkin theres something in the speakers that is overloading my H/U and my H/U doesnt have an automatic turn off for the overload so it just begins to clip. i just took the speakers our for now. anyone ever hear of this prob and if so you think theres anything i can do..
