I think I see the one you are talking about, the rear heat sink is much larger from what I see. I really dont need the pip or steering wheel controls for the Matrix since it has no wheel controller (or passengers). I wish I could find a unit with no moving parts to fit the Toyota Matrix, that would be the way for me to go!
I thought the matrix is 2din - in which case, there are maybe 3 manufacturers. Measure the opening - probably 200x100 which is Camry/Rav et al generic...
Personally, I like the button on the side (direct links to Nav, volume knob etc - more OEM) - though they have a smaller screen (6.2 or 6.5").
Most are 400x230 - which probably looks better than our Lexus GX $gazillion nav DVD... My system was advertised as "Rav4", but after possibly 1 week of emails verifying things (very slow support), I bought it, and it ended up plug and play to the Prius 2010 (new gen) - not one wire needed to be run - it just plugged in...
I believe they all do this - which is nice from an install perspective.
Look carefully at the GUI - screen shots - maybe aftermarket steering (very handy). All add backup cams - which can be bought for like $20 with night vision... Buying on
EBay give some protection - but buyer beware - and be aware...
I think there are gobs of these at your price - and the features are nice. Mine happened to have very nice sound (in a car - a DVD preamp output is not going to be bad).
I'm running with stock speakers - stock everything - liking the sound - but getting ready to upgrade speakers, then amp (far better than stock as it is)...
Make sure you can listen to music while GPS is running - also find out if they can support other maps like TomTOm and iGo....
To the general population that says these things are "junk" - you have not looked at what's available today -I'm running it - it has far more features and functionality. We have someone in the UK who went with the Kenwood DNX 9240BT (US model is 9140), but found it buggy in the nav. To be fair, it's a new unit, and bugs are expected - He did state Kenwood had an update scheduled for Sept (no follow up) - he swapped it for a pioneer AVIC-Z110BT which he likes...
To each their own - but all that's made in China is not bad (BTW - Pioneer and Kenwood are also made in China).//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
