Hello,

I am about to pull the trigger and order some Rainbow Germanium's. Now all I need is an amplifier to power these babies.

My substage is a 15" DVC TC-3000 powered by a Sundown 1500D.

I was thinking of getting an SAX-100.2, or getting an SAX-100.4 and bi-amping to get the right amount of power.

To those pushing ~200w to their germanium's..compared to the ones pushing out ~100w...how is it? Do the tweets sound too harsh high end? That's my main fear. And Also...is ~200w a bit too loud? I want my subs to pound..but also wanting to hear the music at the same time.

I tend to turn it up a lot (not to the point of clipping however //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif ) in order to get maximum output by my sub...will the high's be too loud for me?

Thanks alot for the help!

I see that the Sundown 1500D amp is a Mono Type Class D. Depending on the load from the speaker(s) the output of the amplifier varies. How do you have the TC 3000 wired, in parallel or series, because that will affect the impedance(ohms) and the output of the 1500D. Which model of Rainbow Germanium's are you planning on purchasing ? There seems to be a couple of different models. Before you buy you have to make sure they will fit in the speaker openings in the doors. Is it the Rainbow CS 465.25G - Germanium Line 6-1/2" Double Woofer 2-Way Component System for $789.00 ?

its the Rainbow Germanium 265.65 6 1/2" woofers with 1" tweet.

I will be wiring the sub in parallel in order to receive a 1 ohm load. and they will fit the speaker openings of the door.

I basically just need a suggestion for an amp to power the rainbows.

I was looking into Zed audio..but I ned a 2 channel amp that will put out around 200w x 2 @ 4 ohm's, or a 4 channel amp..and then bridge it to 200 x 2 @ 4 ohm's.

Ah sorry.

The only (new) Zed amp that would work then is the the Deuce, and you would probably have to buy directly from their website, and its price starts at $389.

You can find a new Alpine PDX 4ch (PDX 4.100) that does 200wx2 for $270 on several ads on eBay if you want to save some money.

(Though I personally prefer class A/B amps for comps, and the Alpines are class D.)
