i need help with capacitors

If capacitators did absolutely nothing then they would not be produced. I am amazed at all the people that say they do nothing. That is not true indeed. While a capacitator can temporarily help with the electrical, it is merely only supposed to be used as a secondary option next to an upgraded alt and/or battery.

The reason you see caps in car audio is purely a marketing ploy I'm affraid to say. They do little to help an electrical system that good steady current flow from a stong battery, alt and wiring couldn't provide.

Its a good way for the resellers to make serious coin.

Best,

Mark

When I had the 1 woofer/amp combo and no cap, when the bass would hit my voltage and lights would drop like crazy and take a while to charge back up. After I got the cap, my lights would still dim and voltage would drop, but it would recharge almost instantly. I guess it just happened to be my lucky day huh?

I wouldn't say we make serious coin on caps, the mark-up is only about 25-30% which in retail is not very good. I sell them at my store to the people who don't want to spend the money on a bigger battery and thicker wiring.

youre right, they do SOMETHING, but it is neglible for what most people think they should be for, a lack of supply that should be remedied by an alt and/or batt.

I definitely agree with you on that 1. I laugh at people who try to run 1K plus watts off of their stock electrical system plus a CAP......

I would have taken the money invested in the cap and put it toward better wiring/electrical system. It would have resulted in no dimming and a steady current.

You were purchasing from the wrong supplier.

you could get a capacitor crazy cheap if you just find out all the specifications they sell audio ones for and just buy from one of the 3 big electrical supliers out there. its not an expensive part, its just companys puting there sticker around a general use capacitor and selling them in the audio market.

that was my feeling, but i couldnt find one elsewhere. i think it would be sans voltage readout as well?
