a battery cannot deliver at the same rate as a cap. and if you run a new battery, you need to wire a charge circuit to it, and your going to need more alternator to keep your two batteries charging. a capacitor is a simple way to do that without the extra work. in most car audio aplications your going to want a new alternator anyways, but that doesnt mean cap's are pointless. they can be found in almost all electronics, for a reason.I'm sorry, I see no reason. In my car I have a battery and an alternator. Whatever the alternator cannot instantaneously deliver, the battery will. That's what its there for. Oh yeah, and to start the car of course.
Now, lets take your analogy. Your cap is fully charged when all the energy is sucked from it 'at an extremely rapid rate' as you put it. So, your cap went from full energy to zero. Now it has to charge.
Where does it get its energy to charge from?
