I need an iPod expert

When I put the Pioneer DEH4900iB head unit with full iPod controls in my Dodge Dakota, I was disappointed to learn that it would play but not charge my 4th Gen iPod Nano (5v USB charging). It would, however, charge an older Firewire iPod (12v charge), so I bought a mint used 20gb clickwheel Classic, loaded it up, and threw it in the glovebox. Problem solved. I have now bought a super-cool 8.5" in-dash DVD head unit for my Intrepid which also has iPod controls, however, it won't charge either style of iPod. The interface cable has the standard dock end on it like any other. What I need is a 12v cigarette-lighter type charger with a dock end that will plug into the iPod, and with a female dock opening that the interface cable to the head unit will plug into under that. I would actually prefer one that charges the older iPod instead of my 4th Gen Nano, since that one has more storage and it's easier to read in it's mount from the driver's seat, but I wouldn't be opposed to buying a newer 5v-charge Classic if necessary. I've searched high and low for a charger like this, but can't find anything. Anyone know?

I forget the name brand, but someone does make an attachment that charges your ipod even if your radio doesnt
schoshe...I think
Scosche has the Passport, which re-arranges which pins do the charging through the interface cable, so you can charge a newer iPod with an older-style-charging head unit, but I couldn't find anything from them that actually does the charging and still allows the data to pass through to and from the head unit. I know there's gotta be something somewhere...

It must pull some juice that would run the iPod and sends it to the charge pin in the plug. They're for the newer iPods so I'd have to use my 8gb Nano for now until I pick up a newer Classic. Oh well, it's worth a shot. Thanks!!

im pretty sure that the passport will work even with out the headunit supporting it
Actually I did some more research and found that the Passport does indeed just re-arrange the charge pin locations. It's for head units with iPod cables that only charge the 12v firewire iPods. It changes the charge voltage to 5v for the USB iPods and moves it to the right pin. But the head unit has to at first support the firewire-type iPods. My HU won't charge any of them. I've since done a ton more searching and come up with this, which has a 3.5mm aux cable that I don't need (for aux-in head units), and a pass-trough dock on the bottom that I can connect my control cable to. Found it on eBay for $13.
