If he doesnt plan on building more in the future, and dont already have the tools, its much cheaper just to buy one....

yeah, for a one time thing you don't save much building it yourself. on top of that, the first box for most people isn't the greatest.

Im in no way discouraging someone from building their own box. In some cases its just not practical.
