I need a new sub...affordable

I have 2 type R 12's in my car in a subzero box. The subs are covered in glue because the factory glue that was there was junk it un attached where the surround is attached to the cone. So I went and but a tube of silicone and did a quick fix. They work for now but I was wondering if there is an affordable 15 inch sub out there that would pound harder then these type R's together. I have a memphis pr600 amp wich puts out 500 rms at 2 ohms or 300 rms at 4 ohms. And one 15 inch sub should be lighter then the two 12's in a dual box. So i'm also wanting to cut back on weight. So does anybody know of a 15 inch sub off hand that would out pound my 2 alpine type R's?

it's a subzero box it's not ported I have 2 type R 12's dual voice coil subs each voice coil is 4 ohms. They are rated at 400 rms each. I would like to get a single 15 inch sub that would out pound the two type R 12's put together and i would like to do it on a budget with the amp i have now if it's possible.

i dont know what a subzero box is but 2 type rs running off 600 watts is not enough..not to mention that if you have 2 4 ohm woofers and your amp doesn't support 1 ohm your running at 4 ohms which is 300 watts. Thats like not even half enough for 1 of those subs. You get a 4x bigger and better amp, not to mention a better box you will hit 3-4x harder. Plus it will be a lot cheaper than trying to get a new 15" woofer and new amp and a new crappy box.

subzero box was 150.00 bucks. they are a "namebrand" company I'm well aware that i'm only getting 4 ohms out of the amp. I would like to get a dual voice coil 2 ohm per coil 15 inch sub and bridge it. That way one 15 inch sub would be getting 500 rms and i would have more room in my ride less weight to make my car squat and the cool factor of having a single sub that is better then 2 12's. Does anybody know of a budget sub that can do this?

I just spent 175 on the memphis amp. It's real power though not some overrated junkie. the type r's are 400 rms each. It's a dope system it really crams...it's nuts. but i would like the same kind of bass or maybe better out of a single 15.

just like adam said port one of em an then you can run that amp to it or you can sell that other type r and buy an amp with some real balls. FYI some people are running 1000watts to their type r daily driver.

I would suggest getting a Type R 15" and a bigger amp. Seriously, the Type R 15" wangs harder than most 2 12" applications, not some, but it deffinately can. I guess you could try 1 single L7 15" but i would suggest building your own box if you want your system to sound great, no matter what you get. Also what type of car do you have, because you shouldn't be squatting.

Yeah, the Type R's RMS lies, most people run at least 700-800 RMS on each for daily driving, some run upwards of 1000 RMS like WhiteIce said. They are very power hungry subs.

these are the old style type r 12's and they are covered in silicone from a quick fix. They don't have the new style surround. and if I can get a 4 ohm 15 inch sub my 500 rms amp should be able to put plenty of power to it. i don't want to buy anything but a new sub ok? so is there a sub out there a single sub that will pound harder then my 2 type r 12's with the amp i have now?

it's a civic dx with a spare tire, battery, 2 15 lb subs, 60 lb box and a 20 lb amp all directly above the back axel.

Mach5audio.com and check out their 15" woofer. Wire the memphis amp to 2 ohm with a nicely designed box and you should be good.

I have no experience with these subs, but they have gotten good reviews from a couple of guys that know their subs. Also, with only 150 watts going to each Type R, I think just about any 15 with decent power is going to be louder. I could be wrong though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

is it possible to get the 500 rms out of my amp using 2 type R subs that are dual voice coil 4 ohms each coil?

That looks like a really good buy. What's a good box. I may be buying that sub!
