I need a new sub...affordable

i dont know what a subzero box is but 2 type rs running off 600 watts is not enough..not to mention that if you have 2 4 ohm woofers and your amp doesn't support 1 ohm your running at 4 ohms which is 300 watts. Thats like not even half enough for 1 of those subs. You get a 4x bigger and better amp, not to mention a better box you will hit 3-4x harder. Plus it will be a lot cheaper than trying to get a new 15" woofer and new amp and a new crappy box.
x2 im not surprised ur lokking for something better... thats is way too little power..... screw the 15... get a new amp and feed them babies 1k each... i bet they will take it and sound bad@ss doin it, then i bet u wont want a new 15

my cousin thinks i should go with a memphis 15 so it matches my amp and stuff...do you think a budget memphis 15 would be better then the mack 5 15?

subzero box was 150.00 bucks. they are a "namebrand" company I'm well aware that i'm only getting 4 ohms out of the amp. I would like to get a dual voice coil 2 ohm per coil 15 inch sub and bridge it. That way one 15 inch sub would be getting 500 rms and i would have more room in my ride less weight to make my car squat and the cool factor of having a single sub that is better then 2 12's. Does anybody know of a budget sub that can do this?

I just spent 175 on the memphis amp. It's real power though not some overrated junkie. the type r's are 400 rms each. It's a dope system it really crams...it's nuts. but i would like the same kind of bass or maybe better out of a single 15.
well just cuz its a named brand dont mean its good.... with the right tools and calculations u can build a box that will blow that one out the water..... second, where do u go off saying 1 15 is better than 2 12s, thats just retarded..... thats like saying 1 10 is better than 2 12's...... its all in the install. And third y did u buy such a small amp to power two 12's, haven't u read about R's n how they take more than just 400 watts, thats like an appetizer when they need a friggin steak...... r u sure ur system is nutz with that little power? n btw dont anticipate better sound from 1 sub with the same amount of power u're giving 2.... will be hardly any differnt...... u just need a new amp... sorry dont mean to be a dick

i have type r's cause i got them cheap. check out my post in "good deals" under general discussion. it is capable of 500 rms 1 channel which is more power then either one of my subs now is getting. so I am gonna buy the mach 5 15 and put it in...i'm almost certain. it would be perfectly matched for the mach 5 15 briged at 2 ohms.

I agree that the 2 12's would be louder...but not off so little power. He also stated that he was trying to save room/weight. I would think 1 15 off 500 watts in a good enclosure would breeze by the type r's with 150watts per. Agian, I could be totally wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

yeah, type r's w/ 150 watts probably sound like ***. 15's are heavier and there are options when building to lighten it up. But whatever, sounds like you don't really care what it sounds like but how cool it is and how good it fits with your other stuff.

1 15 inch sub in 1 box won't be as heavy as 2 12's in a huge 3/4 inch dual box.

all you need to do is correctly power your subs. they will pound really loud. my friend has them in his corolla and it's silly. his are correctly ported in a custom box though...and getting 600rms each. i do however have a ported box with a 500rms MTX 15'' sub lieing around my house...it does pound that for sure. pm me if you are interested. we could do a trade/$

Considering your power and weight requirements I don't think a Type R is appropriate. You just don't have the power to properly push one, and they are heavy (~40 pounds each).

The Mach 5 is about 28 pounds (just over one 12" Type R) and needs less power compared to the "Gets moving with 700-800 watts" Type R.

Also, if you're really concerned about weight, Precision Ports can drop a lot of weight off an enclosure.

if you really want a pair of 3 year old silicone covered subs I'll consider doing it. I have a kid here in town that will trade a planet audio big bang sub for the two of them. it's 12 inch big bang.
