The sales guy is trying to push me to get a "Matrix", by audio control, not a mixer as I previously mentioned. I did some research and what I assume he was referring to, is the Audio Control "Overdrive--Pre Amp Line Driver". This makes some sense to me after reading what it'suppesed to do.

Is this something I need, will it benefit me in any way with this little system I'm getting.

Alpine 9856, (2) JL 10w1, (4) Boston Acoustics nx 57 (1) JL e6450

Goin into a Hardtop Jeep Wrangler.

Its $200 bucks and Im already $500 over what I budgeted initially.

I dont mind buying it as long as it is worth the money, and will "Actually" do something for my entire system (and not just theoretically).

well theoretically it will do nothing. but people make claims otherwise.

its kinda like a capacitor. concider it at time of need, and not before.

if the shop reccomends it on the basis that it will make the amps run cooler, more efficient, or work less, well, i'd not shop there or get an install done there. if they reccomend it for some legit reason, like interference reduction or because the HU has very weak preamps on radio/aux/ect... then i'd politely ask them to install the equipment and leave room for the addition of the line driver at a later time. same if they don't know why they are reccomending it other them previous sucess with a line driver.
