i just got a new batt

my volts have been driving to 9 :-(

my cap just dies out sometimes these days too...

I gotta do the big three and go with a new alternator.

I'm using a 1k crank battery and 3 farad cap...but it's not doing the trick =\

That would be clipping my friend
yea i would say so,i dont wana do damage to my new sub it has less then 30min play time . I have the batt on its way i think it should b here tuesday.Im tryin to get it underhood but if that dont work out its goin in the back. i was afraid of the volt drops messin with my sub. i just wanted to see if any one eles would think this. i was thinkin my box might be a tad to big for the sub. im at 35hz with 50inchs of port area and im a tad over 4cubic feet after displacment.

Do the Big 3 and get a real battery, or two, then sell that useless 3 farad cap. That should solve most of your power issues.
You are correct when you say to do the big 3 and to get rid of the 3 farad cap IF that cap is not a low esr electrolytic. The rest of what you said is BS and you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

Capacitors may not help with voltage drop, but they aren't parasitic drains like batteries are. Batteries NEVER charge to the vehicle's charge of over 14v which means they are always drawing current. Capacitors do charge to the vehicles level and stop charging once they reach it. If this guy has a voltage issue, adding batteries will only make it worse. There is no replacement for a high output alternator. Capacitors won't help but they are nowhere NEAR as bad on an electrical system as more batteries.

Recommending what you recommended is like a guy asking for help because his house was burning down and you telling him to make sure he turns the water off to the house and adds more wood and insulation.

lol ur sooooo wrong big guy.. not only does adding more batteries help rather than hurt, it also helps stable the voltages instead of taking it all from a few batteries. it pretty much spreads teh loads.

Guess you think your a genius. I had voltage drops years ago when I had a 25 farad cap and a stock alt, all good 0/1 ga wiring and a stock battery. I added a Yellow top under the hood, dropped the cap and did the Big 3 and never had another problem with voltage drops. So what I said was from experience, not just some random thought. And if you noticed what I wrote, I said it would solve "MOST" of his voltage problems, not all of them. Yeah, a HO Alt is the way to go. But getting a real battery and doing the Big 3 are the right steps to take before he dumps $250-500 on a HO Alt. And by a real battery I'm not talking about going to Sears and buying some DieHard or Interstate lead acid type battery. A good battery like a Kinetik or another AGM battery is the way to go.
