Ok, I am a completely new to car audio. I'm 16 and just got my first car, 1997 Saab 900 S Hatchback, and it's stereo system is completely stock. I listen to Rock music, no rap. I appreciate and would love to have a great sounding system, but I don't have thousands of dollars to spend. These are the options I was thinking.
1. I have a stock headunit, two stock 3.5in dash speakers and 2 stock 6x9 rear speakers. If I were to replace the dash and rear speakers, would that be nice enough to play music rather loudly and with good clairity?
2. Buy an Amp and go all out. I have 6.5in cut outs in doors, so Id get new dash, door, and rear speakers. A small amp to power the speakers.
3. Buy an Amp and dash, door, and rear speakers. Buy a large Amp and buy Subs.
4. Add a head unit to any of those.
Costs are not VERY important, but I would like to keep under 400 if possible. I use
eBay if that helps.
Well, with Saabs there is an LCD that connects to the stock head unit. I'm afriad that if I get a new head, then the head will not work properly, thats a downfall of a new head.
I have also never worked with car audio, but I'm very good with electronics, I build computers. I'm sure I could do it, but it would be much easier for me to not incorporate an amp if possible. I'm hoping that with replacing dash and rear speakers that would be good enough, but that's up to you guys to decide.
