i have some electrical problems here...alternator...

wellllll lets see here...i have a 200amp EA alternator in my suv...and lately when i accellerate my battery light will flicker on and off pretty quickly...but not all the time when im accellerating, only some of the time...and im baffled here...i have 1/0 ran to the alt from the battery, and the stock wiring is still there also..only thing i can think of is the alt bolts are a little loose and as i pick up speed it becomes ungrounded for a split second or something? or its just a bad alternator...any suggestions/help for me? thanks.

sounds to me like your voltage regulator going out in the alt. i had this same problem with ea alternators. put a dmm on the bat and see what happens to the voltage when the batt light comes on. if it drops down to 12 your alts gonna give sometime soon.

been there done that, ive put a dmm on the battery while the light flickers..drops down to the 12's and then hops back up. im really hoping its not the alt...lol it would be the second time it will be sent back for problems :-\

so i did some troubleshooting tonight...

took the + lead of the DMM and put it on the alt + wire...

took the - lead of the DMM and put it on the alternator casing

and the voltage read steady and fine...

i also turned the car on and left it in park but revved the engine up to 3000/4000 rpms a couple of times and no light flashing...interesting to me...so my last thinking is..that something is loose and when im driving down the road with the vibrations its causing something here...

i tol ya, the epic does strange this joe, im havin same prob wit my stock alt, when go to slow down for stop light, car juss dies and voltage goes way down be4 it does, i guess my alt isnt chargin batt or sumthin. it only does that every so often which is strange. so idk
