I have a serious problem.

Me and a friend were hooking up my Hifonics amp today. The amp is just for the 2 front component speakers.

I have a set of Coaxial Speakers in the back.

When we were messing with the gain and stuff, everything sounded PERFECT!

So we started the 'clean up' put all the stuff back on my car, put the screws back in and stuff.

So I go to turn the stereo on once again, and everything is distorted!

So after an hour of looking at the wiring, seeing if somehting went wrong, I started to mess with the Fader on the headunit.

The back speakers work perfect if you have the fade ALL the way down for just the back. And the Components work perfect if you set the fade to them. But as you set the fade towards the middle, everything starts to distort.

Can somebody please help me?

there could be some sort of phasing issue between the speakers. IMO leave the rears off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

My dad payed 200$ for them, I didn't ask for them.. but he'd be pissed if I didn't use them. Plus, it sounded GREAT when everything was working.

Yeah I guess the fronts didnt distort. The back ones were going insane though, and it makes me sad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I don't understand, everything was working just fine. Then we put all the panels back on, and everything goes crazy.

did you have the car running when you set the gains the first time?
you need to set your gains at 14v, not 12

and what test tones did you use? 0db, -3db, -6? -10?
car was running, dont have a test tone cd so i just used the CD that was in. The rears are not running off the amp at all though, just the headunit.

I'm not too positive they were 200, but all I know is, all of the speakers worked fine.

For a while I had my headunit powering the components and the back speakers.
