I have a laptop question....

Mac's are bsicaly really good for using iPod/iPhone (anything with i) and Photoshop/Video editing.

I reccommend HP. I just got a dv9000 through them. I'm happy with it.

You only need the dv6000 (if you want AMD otherwise check their website)

Customizing the dv6000 brings the total to $937.99 (plus tax)

Operating system FREE Upgrade from Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic to Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)

Processor AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-60 (2.0 GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache )

Display 15.4" WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)

Memory 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)

Graphics Card NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 6150

Personalization FREE Upgrade to HP Imprint Finish + Webcam + Microphone edit

Networking 802.11a/b/g WLAN and Bluetooth edit

Hard Drive 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive edit

Primary Battery High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

OS and Recovery Media System Recovery DVD with Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)

For $50 more you can get the TL-64 which is the processor I have. Those are the specs from what you say you need, that I'd get.

My dv9000 has AMD X2 64 TL-64 (2.2Ghz)

4GB Ram

120GB HD + WD 250GB external HD

Vista Ultimate (64-bit)

upgraded wireless with bluetooth, the imprint finish, etc etc.

over heats every 5 mins and shuts down, ive had to reinstall windows 3 times (not sure if its cause hes a dumbass or the computer sucks) but if its like the 1000 i wouldnt bother

I don't think it's like the 1000 then, I looked it up and the 1520 is fairly current on all of it's hardware (Core2Duo, large HDD, 2 gigs of ram, etc.). The thing I don't like about the Mac is the 13.3" screen, but other than that, I can't find anything wrong with it.

Ideally, I'd like a Macbook Pro, but those are too freakin expensive for a college student to buy.

Edit: I can't get an HP, as I'm buying this through my moms work, and she gets a discount on Apple and Dell products. So they are basically all I have to choose from //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif.

i have the dv6000 its 847.99 after taxes at bestbuy its kickass and does everything i need it to for college

I bought a Macbook Pro. I just put my name on the credit card account, and am going to pay it off in payments.

Eugenics, I was going to hook up the 360 through the DVI port on the laptop. But I read further into it, and noticed that it only has DVI out, and not an in. So no go on that one, I guess I'll just be buying a cheap 19" LCD //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif .

It's a shame, because i'm looking at a 17 inch laptop that can display 1080p.... but i doubt there will be any input options. and a tv card wont work because of the lag.

macs are great.. if youre making a calendar of your 100 cats...

or producing a new cd for your garage band..

or looking to get hit on by scene girls in class.

but if you wanna interact with the REAL world, the business world, the internet world or the other half of the people in 1st world countries, trust me.. get a windows based PC/Laptop. Ive been doing IT for a company with 78,000 employees in 40 countries.. none of us use macs.

as a mac hater i will say their laptops are better than a dell. My girlfrind has a dell laptop the case is splitting, it runs slow and it costs more that a basic macbook. My brother bought a macbook six month ago. It's great for doing simple things like browsing the internet and word processing (aka school work). You can buy (or get) word or office for mac so there will be no formating issues when exchanging .doc or Excel files. If needed its pretty easy to also install Windows XP if you need to run windows only software like our business school requires. The only thing it doesn't do is game because it's a mac, but then again any laptop sucks for gaming.

hey hey hey, dont go ripping on macs just beacuse you dont know how to use them... anything and everything that can be done using windows can also be done with a mac... i havent used windows (other than at a friends house or occasionally at the library) since 04

i say a macbook will be great for anything you need to do in school, you can get MS office for mac, or you can use openoffice for free, which supports ms office files, and i think is a much more stable app. and of course music. it may take you a little bit to get used to an learn your way around, but once you do you will love it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
