I hate these types of questions but I must ask it

Tax return money will be coming in about a month and I need to restock my truck. I have a downfiring sub box under the back seat in my dodge ram. The box itself is cut of a pair of 12" subs. It has just under 4^3 and so I did not port it. I had a pair of XXX's in it last year but never had it going just right. I sold the subs and amp and now am needing to get some bass back in. I want to stay around $400-$500 this time around. I don't mind used or ebay or whatever. What would you all put in for a pair of subs and amp? I already have front stage and rear fill amped up. I was thinking about a pair of Shiva's and ??? for the amp? Thanks for the help.

Pair of shivas would probably suit you pretty well, good SQ and get pretty loud. Amp choice is completely up to you, there's plenty of amps out there in that range that would be great....look into something 600-800 watts at 2 ohms (shivas are dual 8 right?). I could be wrong on the VC configuration and if so, just change up the impedence rating you need the power at.

Don't buy pyramids please....but you already knew that didn't you?

I have two pyramid 12's rated for 700w max, like 200rms getting 400rms wach and they still barely move. They put out about the same amount of bass as my stock rears in the Cutty but a little more clear and distortion free, when they don't bottem out.

yes, I know not to buy pyramids. I actually didn't know if he was messing with me, ie funky pups, or if he was serious. Don't really know what amp. Yes, they are dual 8 ohm so will be wired down to 2 ohm on a mono amp.

I would look and see if you can still find an old jbl600.1, or even a bx1000d would probably work well for you and give the power you need to get them moving. Both can be had under $200 and will treat you great. There are many other options however, just look around for a while on some of the bigger audio dealers, like sounddomain, ikesound, thezeb, caraudioexpert, etc.
