I Finally Heard The W7 Prof Installed

jl is just highly over rated and over priced... to tell tha truth, i would take a mag or a q over a w7 anyday...
Stupid stupid stupid, ignorant people. When will you ever learn. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif

TAKE A ****ING BUSINESS CLASS! Then you can use something called your brain, and you all would probably come to the consensus that they are not "over prived".

PS: You can get a W7 authorized, NIB, with warranty for about the same price as a mag under the same circumstances.

In that business class you will also learn that buisineses can sell things very overpriced just based on the fact that they're a respected company (such as JL). Stop getting mad when people are stating the obvious: you can get a sub just as good for much cheaper.

my comparison was a joke-

it's true that my subs perform well, but my point was that there are a million other factors involved in this stuff- the w7s are fine drivers, which often seemed to be employed improperly by idiots (who then also think they are the greatest).

if i had installed w7s in my truck instead woudl they sound better? maybe, would they be louder (assuming they would have made 15s) maybe... but so?

Authorized?? Where...

I kinda agree with you, theres no such thing as over priced. there priced at what they are, and you can either take it or leave it.

I never said you can't get a product just as good, and for less.Look at it this way, these internet companies come and go.They DO NOT have millions of dollrs in advertising, they have MANY MANY employees.I'm just sick of hearing about them being overpriced. They have more bills to take care of than a company ran out of someones basement.

i'm not going to deal with the fact that alot of you arguing the fact are not, never have been, or never will be anything more than consumers. and know nothing of the marketing game.

i would just like to say, that alot of people who idolize things are shocked, just SHOCKED when they don't live up to their expectations. Why? well i think we all know why.

friend of mine has 2 10w7's on 2 1000/1's in a custom box built and installed by a VERY reputable company here in town, and needless to say, my tc9 10's in a TRUNK car get louder and sound better

A lot of car audio shops. But people here wouldn't know that, they never get off this site //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

You can go to most places (with cash in hand) and get a 12" W7 for $400-$500

Extensive R&D/Advertising = High Price. Yes as mentioned there are a lot of brands out there that have similar results as the w7. Look how long the w6 was around before the w7 even came out. Its a well known brand that is just about everywhere you go. Most beginners/novice car audio enthusiast just go to main stream places and JL is there and they are told that its the greatest thing since sliced bread and they buy it.

Before I joined this forum I never knew about the XXX, Brahma, IDmax or the newer line of subs such as Fi, most people I knew had JL products, MTX, Rockford or Kicker back in the day. I have owned a 12w7 and loved it, I recently had to sell it and got two 8w7 which I must say sound great. Personally I dont like the sound of a sealed w7, but thats just me.

All being said, its all about personal preference, knowledge, looks and your budget. Hearing a sub being underpowered and making a critical judgment wont help anyone (no offense //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ).

ive seen it more than once in this thread, so i would like a detailed explanation of this...

how does underpowering a sub affect the way it sounds, and why should you make the decision about what sub to buy only after hearing it at full volume?

it might just be me, but if im going to do a critical listening, it is NOT going to be while the speaker is being pushed to its limits, its going to be at a lower volume. and last time i checked, when you lower the volume, it reduces the power.

so someone please explain to me how underpowering the sub affects the way it sounds. and if no one can, then people, please go back and edit that BS out of your post, and stop saying anything about underpowering a sub...

My only exposure to the W7's was at the '05 SEMA show in Atlantic City. Some guy had two 13W7's in the trunk of his Lexus. I don't know what kind of power that he was throwing at them or the type of enclosure but they sounded outstanding.....LOUD but very tight...a very impressive SQL driver. I was highly-impressed but they're too pricey for me.

I'm very happy with my AA Arsenal 12(which cost me $180 shipped during their presale) as I consider it one of the biggest-bang-for-your buck SQL drivers out there.

And I'm sure the SS,Fi,etc owners feel the same way.
