today i went to a fairly "high end shop". they tried to sell me shit, but i was just there looking.

they have 2 demo car. both have w7's.

the first car. a PT CRUISER. it had one 10 ported pushed by a 500/1 they had a bunch of components that made the highs sound really good.

as far as output.............no way. not worth the money.

*******************************************************

2nd car was a honda accord. ive owned the same car. mine didnt look as good but i had one. it had 4 10 w7 sealed pushed by 2 1000/1. NO WAY.

dont get me wrong. it sound good and got very low actually it sound great. but i was not blown away like i hear alot of guys describe them.

my boys solo 1 15" solobaric sound just as good, to me anyway. the l7 had more output than both systems. he paid 275 for the l7 and he had a kicker kx 1200 refurb in a ported box tuned to 37. my boys highs werent nearly as good but. he did have a big *** box.

jl has to lower their prices. soon folks will wise and spend less on better products.

i was shocked by the power handling. if i spent that much on a sub, blew it, i would be sick for a long time. i just dont get the hype.

these guys at the shop where talking about them like God. i guess they wanted me to fork over a grand or two for a sub and an amp.

crazy

It's a good speaker from a good company, the ignorant people that assume the w7 is "the woofer to end all woofers," is another story.

boners come and go, w7 has been aroud for a LONG TIME and still gets an honurable mention even against much newer technology / designs / companys.why? because its a great subwoofer, if it wasnt no-one would talk about it seriously, the discussion of 'is an audiobahn sub as good as an fi Q' never comes up, why cos everyone knows there is no competition, the w7 continues to impress and fuel debate.sure its expensive but so is a ferrari, and modern cars are just as fast as ferraris and cheaper.

not a bad woofer by any means, but over hyped quite a bit.
IMO, can be out done for less money. if youre looking for output and good sound quality, i dont recomend it. if youre looking for a status symbol, cant do much better.
2.5" of excursion with very low thd and almost no woofer noise, free air? w7's are expensive, but they are still easily one of the best drivers on the market, especially in the area of "SQL"
