I finally got my HO Alt installed...

If you can manually adjust the idle get it up to where your voltage stays stable.Or measure your crank pulley and try and find an alt pulley that will give you the right ratio.What rpm do you idle at?

without a larger main pulley or smaller alt pulley, idling up is the only option

so if i go to advance or o'reilly they have pulleys i can look through? doesn't seem like thats too good for business

i dont want to adjust my idle. gas is expensive enough... and the PCM will compensate for any changes so thats out.

i idle at ~800rpm

I don't know how many stores have them, but it was great for business, as we had tons of odd parts laying around that customers needed

we didn't sell different size pulleys....which is why we kept all the ones we could get our hands on

If he has a small crank pulley he will more then likely need a custom machined alt pulley.They don't make em that small for regular vehicle.Its kinda like a specail order part not common.

I think the 3.8's had a pretty small main..but i can't remember for sure..

gimme a few. i'll measure them both.

crank pulley = 7 5/16"

alt pulley = 2"

note that this is where the belt rides, not the outside diameter.

i know at about 1500 is right. not sure exactly where it picks up
