I can't figure out what's wrong...

I am building a sealed box for my ava. After I finished cutting out the sub diameter, I took the ava out of my car, unscrewed the ava from the car enclosure, and dropped the ava into the box I am building to see if I made the cutout large enough.

It fits. Later on when I put the sub back into my car, I connect it back to my tantrum 1200.1 and it doesn't work because the amp keeps blowing fuses. It was working perfectly fine before I took the sub out.

Can anyone tell me what's going on? I am already out of fuses, so I can't try anything out for now, but I will take down every suggestion I can get or find and I will try to get my amp to work when I get new fuses.

You've got something shorted out. If it blows the fuse, start by unhooking everything but the power ground and remote then slowly hook things up until you find the problem. The one area that you might look is the tinsel lead on the sub.

What im thinking is possibly u wired the sub up at a lower resistance when you took it in/out and your amp is drawing more..?
Id check that it is exactly the same
Well I kept all the wires attached, so I didn't have to rewire anything. The only two wires I took out were the ones connected at the terminal.

When I found out that I blew my fuse, I rewired the sub and then put in another (my last) fuse. When I turned on the battery, the amp blew that last fuse.

I care less about the tantrum and more about the ava because I am throwing the ava into my home theater, but I really hope that both are still working.

check your power wire and rem wire. When did it pop exactly? when you hooked it up (speaker wires) or turned it on (HU) unhook the sub.. does it still blow? its in the rem or power if yes. Unhook the rem and sub.. does it still pop? then its the power wire. rewire the power. If it doent, then re hook up the rem. if it pops, rewire the rem. if it pops with just rem or just power, its the amp.

It happens when I turn the headunit on. It also happened once when no sub was connected.

I just wired the ava to my speaker amp (kicker zx350.2) and it works, so I'm relieved about that.

But I can't test the tantrum right now and I have no idea what is wrong with it. If it blew out, would I be able to smell it?

Chances are if it's blowing as soon as it turn's on then the amp is done for. All you can really do is double and triple check all your wiring. If you don't have any exposed or pinched wiring anywhere in the car then more then likely the amp is done for. That's how my Rockford T2000 did. I constantly blew the fuse in it but luckily it was covered under warranty.

as stated, try powering it up with just power / ground remote connected to the amp. If the fuse blows with out any speakers connected, the amp will need servicing. If it powers up and stays on you most likely had the sub wired wrong or something shorting out.

Yeah, I think that it blew a fuse once without any sub connected. My first blown amp ever in six years of car audio...

My fuses should be here on Tuesday or Wednesday and I'll give it a try then.

Anyone know where I can get a pg tantrum repaired for cheap?
