Hybrid Install

Well my neighbor against my opinions and the facts I laid in front of him about hybrids not being that much better than a honda civic or other comparable car he is buying a 2008 Toyota Prius . He is going to buy one but before he dose he wanted me find out the limit he can put on the electrical system. He is planing on doing a 80 by 4 channel amp and a 800 by 2 amp running a set of 10's. So is there anything I need to know or he needs to know about installing this system in this car or is it going to be fine?

Don't **** up. If you get a short, the voltage in a hybrid is enough to kill someone. So be careful. That's all i know about hybrid installs.

I've always wondered the same thing

To me a prius seems like a stock car with a shit loads of batterys

and electrical system to kill (literally)

but of coarse I'm defiantly wrong and will be waiting for a

real answer to this question

Ya he wants to do it and I would enjoy installing it but I need to know what power I am dealing with and also if it is going to harm the charging. From what I read I should be fine just be careful not to kill myself. If I do the install I will make sure to make a build thread on it.

I have 2 sundown saz3500's & a memphis 4 channel in my highlander hybrid. On my ride there r 2 different electrical systems. One for the electric motors (hybrid batteries $10k a piece) The other is a regular battery were I have 6 runs of 1/0 gauge running to the back to my HC3800. I have all that is in my sig & have peek metered @ 153 so far. I have 3 more box ideas I am goin to be playing with I want to hit a 155 by the end of the season.

The one thing I was told not to do by the Toyota mechanics was not to tap into the hybrid batteries. they were sayin those things put out about 24 volts.

I'm redoing the system in my Civic Hybrid now.....I'm putting a DD M1b in it...on my Critical Mass 10....I haven't decided on my highs amp...but I have a set of Critical Mass RS6's in the front doors...one advantage to the Civic over the Prius I found was the ability to add an aftermarket deck...as far as I know there are no dash kits or radio harness's made for the Prius intergrated radio
