Hurricane Victims X-mas list

Dude, I live in a city that has been hit 3 times in two years by hurricanes!! In 04 we had two hit 18 days apart. You obviously have no clue what it is to go through a hurricane with 135 mph winds for 4hrs straight. It is a nightmare, I lived in Miami when Andrew hit and I hid in a bath tub under a matress with a weatherband radio waiting for it to be safe to come out. I moved out of state but I ended up back in Florida in 04 for work, (not because I love to live here) a month before the 2 hit back to back. People here were still repairing there homes last year when hurricane Wilma hit and it was like starting all over again.
As far as being back up and running I had no power for 29 days and i was one of the first to get power back after the 2 hit because I am on a hospital grid. NO safe water for 12 days, we had to boil everything, NO gas for 40 miles for a week. I lived with a tarp on my roof for 8 months while I waited for a contractor to rebuild my roof. THere was a 14 month waiting list for roof repairs alone, so i did what i could so it would hold up over the time i had to wait. I never rebuilt my patio screening because it isn't worth it.

Don't talk to me about back up and running until you know what it is like. I dont know where you live but i am sure that you have your share of natural occurances, but i guess everything is always up and running the next day since it is your own special utopia.......

I went through all 3 of those, live in orlando, in a community called hunters creek. moved here, not too much longer, katrina hit. We had school days DROPPED because we were out of school so long in florida. We had a new house being built, luckily tress circled it, but didnt hit.

This is why I love Dallas, nothing really bad happens here....except for the JFK being shot.

when Katrina hit Loui and Houston , i remeber the first thing i did, i went and filled my gas up before them outa towna hogged all the gas

oh yeah i am a little peaved with the Louisianna somebody from there got a hold of my credit card # and charged a bunch stuffs on it. luckily i have Chase and i didnt have to pay a penny plus no deductibles. so woot for Chase

another texan that has no clue how to speak right..........yall are on a roll with this forum lately.

1.)

They don't rebuild every year asshat. The hurricanes, much like lightning don't hit the same spots usually.
Contradicted by this statement:

Dude, I live in a city that has been hit 3 times in two years by hurricanes!! In 04 we had two hit 18 days apart.
Maybe the area you live in doesn't get hit by hurricanes as frequently, but there are places that do suffer from chronic natural disasters. BTW when did I ever direct my statement specifically @ you or the reigon you currently reside in, for that matter.

2.)

I hope you and your family gets swallowed by a fault line and a volcanoes burns you all alive, so I can fly there and piss on your ashes.
That only happens in hollywood buddy... If you're going to come at me like that, then I hope a house falls on the witch you call your mother.

3.)

People who live on the mighty missipi deal with flooding frequently. Should they move? If they did that and left their livelyhood, then many things you take for granted of having on a daily basis wouldn't be available to you.
Sure why not? why live in a place that will cause you financial and emotional distress on a annual basis? Yes you lose alot of the accomidations you're accustom to, but people adjust, it's call adaptation. I rather get used to living in new environment then have my house and other possesions fvcked all the time. If the area I lived in got bombared by earthquakes frequently, I wouldn't mind moving to Canada for example.

I am sick of people saying New Orleans residents had no transportation. Hell, Decipha has over 7,000 Berrettas.
Oh wowzerz!!1!1!!11! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hilarious.gif.02a037aad04aa96f19982b298a3d70a8.gif

They do it for a livelyhood. They don't do it just to accomodate themselves. They live in these areas to help accomodate and get things to EVERYONE in the nation. Fishing in the open seas and living around ports is dangerous, but without people kliving in these areas and doing those jobs, you and everyone else wouldn't ge tthe luxury of fresh seafood. Most people live in an area, because they WORK in that area. Only the rich live there senselessly. Your statements are one sided and selfish.

Exactly. The Mississippi River (and thus New Orleans) is kinda important to the nation's economy don't you guys think?

Nonetheless, I have reached the point where I don't like NOLA very much. I have been going there all of my life and each time I like it less. Compared to other cities of any size, it really does not have much to offer. Nasty, stinking place if you ask me.

I love natural disasters...because they show how idiotic and clueless most people really are. No, I'm not talking about the homeless, or the people that can't fend for themselves - I'm talking about the yuppie, middle-class SUV-driving ****wads that run out to the supermarkets and wonder why all the supplies are gone. Or that complain when their Razr's don't work in the aftermath. These people can afford to make emergency preparations long before the hurricane season ever starts. Preparations like a generator, extra fuel, solar-charged batteries, fresh water supplies, food, radios, etc. The stuff you need to survive for a few weeks.
