humming in my sound sysem

the humming is referred to as alternator whine. you have either a cheap eq or amp, or poor grounding. bypass the EQ and see if the humming goes away, it should as inexpensive eq's are notorius for being sources of noise. if so, try adding ground loop isolation or power line filtering to the eq. if you have a pioneer head unit then ground one of the RCA shields.

and most important, ensure all equipment are well grounded. poor grounding is the #1 cause of noise.
