HU voltage

Is there a way to check voltage on the RCA's for the subwoofer output on my HU?

Im having problems with my sub cutting in and out. When it cuts out it just cuts out but when it comes back on it comes on gradually.

Amp never shuts off or goes into protect.

Try a different HU or an ipod connected to the amp. That should narrow things down for you. Dont go through all the trouble of diagnosing the HU when your havent pinpointed the issue. What model HU

Its the one in My sig. What do you mean by Ipod connection to the amp?

I do have a y moster cable that I use to the AUX on the radio to play my Ipod. Could I just hook that straight to the amp?

Whole reason I want to check the HU is because I havent found any issues with the wiring or the amp.

ifyou have an o scope you can put throught white noise and measure your ac voltage on the rcas.

or use a dmm and turn it to ac and leave the music at a normal volumn. again you will want to use a bass test or white noise cd to measure it. if the deck is the issue then the rcas will lose voltage gradually like the problem your having. if its not use a rca to mini jack on the amp as suggested above. it will work just fine to test and see if the amp side is the issue.

remember rcas use ac to send music to the amp not dc so set your meter acccordingly.

Alright Im gonna bump this again to ask a question. This weekend I had my truck torn appart and re did all the wires. No issues at all yeasterday or today, untill I want to leave my parents house. No bass.

If I have a Y RCA set, could I just plug those into the RCA input on the amp and run my Ipod through the amp directly, bypassing the HU to test the amp?
