HU not getting enough power?

Ok, so recently I have started to have a problem with my head unit. It will sometimes show lower voltage than what my dash gauge reads, let me explain my setup first.

190a alternator(however it puts out lower at idle which kinda sucks but not a huge deal)

big 3

1/0 gauge wiring

2nd yellow top battery

you can see my subs/amp setup in my sig, anyhow my head unit is a pioneer premier model deh-780mp i usually keep it on the display that shows my voltage/rpms.

usually the voltage it reads looks to be about .5v lower than what my dash says.

but lately it will all of the sudden drop, like under 10v, then when i hit idle the head unit shuts off, nothing else in the vehicle(including the fans mounted on the amp/all stock electrical accessories, etc.) turn off or act any differently.

I had some guys who were shady at best hook my stuff up and I've been regretting it for a while. Anyhow, it seems as if my HU does not get enough power sometimes, could this be faulty wiring? or is something else entirely the problem? any help would be much appreciated.

does voltage drop occur at other components, like the amp?

Check the power wire... it's possible.

Just pop your unit out and take a picture of the wires spread out.

run a new wire to the hu. a switched and a constant. One of them has gone bad, and its sometimes easier to just run new. Try looking at where its fused. those sometimes can cause it. weak connection and such.

^^^possible, but the rcas would become the ground and go thru the amp to ground. So its 85% power imo. 15% ground.

(unless hes got a pioneer) opps, he does. ground between rcas and hu may be compromised, so it may be 50/50

probably faulty HU, is there any warranty on the HU still

Ill have to check craiglist's policy on head units.....

....**** no warranty =( I appreciate all the advice, im going to try all of these things this weekend and see if i cant get this to stop.
