Hows this look?

when i did my first 140 it was with the hfi 12s ... 4 cubes total with 2 4x10 inch aeros. think it was 36hz? box is sitting in my room its .5 mdf deminsions are 34x16x16 iirc.

those subs need airspace due to the lack in motor force. but they are good subs

Good deal!!

Im planning to buy a bigger sized audiopipe amp. I know everybody is putting pretty low power to them (looks like an average of 300-500 a pair) Reason i want to use that is if Id want to upgrade in the future, I'll be good to go. Plus, for $130, I dont think I can not go for it.

ive seen the hfi series take retarded power... mine were on 1k

Woah, nice! Just curious, what amp did you have running them?

heres another question. This guys build was on an 08 civic si, and has basically the same size as what Im going to use (I'm assuming they are close in trunk size, which is surprising) but I cant figure out what the box depth vs the port length deal is all about. Can anyone explain that to me?

Yessir. He posted pics of it being built, and it wasnt just a " | " it had the other piece to make it an " L " shape, so maybe its the total port length though? I cant seem to figure out whats going on. Nobody on SMD questioned the fact that its longer, so I wasnt sure if I was just missing something or what?!?

Effective port length is 24 inches:

Does that clear it up?

Yes, Thanks!!

BUT, how did you come up with those numbers? Im aware that you had to end up adding the 2 numbers together and get 24" but im curious where 17 3/4 came from. Wouldnt it change it if you had said 12 and 12, or 15 1/4 and 8 3/4?

Sorry for all the typical new guy questions. Id just like to educate myself more on this

Ok, I donno why I didnt understand that. Thanks alot guys, i see exactly what yall ment now! Greatly appreciated fellas

To, I hope, clear up how to measure correctly, do you add any thing on to the inside measurement because three of the sides continue past the port? I heard that you need to add half the port width to the length of the port to figure effective port length?

I hope I have wrote that so it won't confuse anyone.
