how to wire cap?

i was just wondering how to wire up a cap. i am sure ya use a fuse like normal right? really that is my question? say you had 4 ga wire running from the bat. and you had a distrabution block that had two 8 ga wires running out. one amp is for componets (300 watts) and the other is for subs (800-1000). could you use it before the distrabution block or are you supposed to use it on the sub amp only? thanks

i have may set up after the distbution block going to may amp that is pushing the sub that is the correct way to install your cap.
