How to wire and then what amp?

Hi, I just got some Image Dynamics IDQ 10" subs from a friend and I would like to get them installed. They came in a box and wired but I believe not correctly and the guy didnt tell me anything about them. All they have on them are that they are IDQ10 and dont say if they are 4ohm or 2 so i took an ohmmeter and they registered about 4. Here is a diagram of how they are currently wired (yes, I drew this lol.)

I have a few questions

1) How should I (re)wire them?

2) What specs for an amplifier do I need to look for?

3) Will I need to get a new alternator?

4) I have a Pioneer DEH-P3100 head unit, do I need to get a new one?

4b) If so, what would you recommend for less then/around $300?

So i took an ohmmeter and they registered about 4.
Ok - so you've got a pair of dual-4 Ohm subs. These can be wired to 2 Ohms or 8 Ohms individually; 1 Ohm, 4 Ohm, or 16 Ohm together. (though why you'd want to use the 16 Ohm option is beyond me)

Umm...that suuure looks like one of the RF wiring guide diagrams off of the Crutchfield Learning Center page sans labeling...

Depends on how much power you want/need and at what final resistance. I know pretty much nothing about the ID subs so I have no clue what the specs are. I'm sure someone who does will be along shortly...

3) Will I need to get a new alternator?
If that's all you're running outside of pretty much stock everything else probably not. A better place to start would be to upgrade the "Big 3" underhood wires. Making that change will allow you to best make use of the current you have available now. If that's not enough then we'll look into alternator upgrades later. See the stickied tutorials in the wiring section - a great wealth of useful info to be found there...

4) I have a Pioneer DEH-P3100 head unit, do I need to get a new one?
As I understand it the 3100, while not an outstanding performer, was solid and reliable. If it does everything you want it to do then I wouldn't suggest spending $$ on something you don't need. There are heaps of head units that will do more than yours - but again, it's entirely dependant on what you want. 'Tis your system we're discussing, after all

4b) If so, what would you recommend for less then/around $300?
The answer to this depends on the answer to #4 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for responding so fast. Ok, so yes I was looking at those images when I drew that up, but I meant that the schematic isnt the same as any on their site, its similar, but different so im not sure if it would work. Here are the Specs for the subs from their site.

Nominal Impedance (IMP) 2 / 8 ohm

DC Resistance (Re) 3.9 / 7.8 ohms

Resonant Frequency (Fs) 26Hz

Electrical "Q" (Qes) .374

Mechanical "Q" (Qms) 5.42

Total "Q" (Qts) .35

Equivalent Volume (Vas) 2.05 ft3

One Way Linear (Xmax) 13.2mm

Cone Area (Sd) 350 cm2

Sensitivity (Spl) 89,9db

RMS Power Handling (Pwr) 50 to 300

Speaker Displacement .05 ft3

Depends on how much power you want/need and at what final resistance. I know pretty much nothing about the ID subs so I have no clue what the specs are. I'm sure someone who does will be along shortly...
I have no idea of what I would need or even want heh =\

I had one before that played mp3s which i loved (got stolen of course though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif ) Most of my music is in OGG and FLAC(preferable) so id really like one that supported those, maybe even had a harddrive in it for long term storage w/out any cds
