how to step up my voltage to optimal?

your car was probably desinged to only run at 13.8 volts. (GM?) Your factory wiring isn't designed to carry much more current than that. You need to get a different regulator for your alt to allow it ro run 14.4v instead of 13.8v.

My Trailblazer idles @ 14.4 - 14.5 no audio load.

With the amps outputting 2kw+ (into 1.5 & 4ohm) she floats around 13.6-13.9 @ the D-block.

It's a GM.

is 14.36 a good idle for a stock car?
Well yea thats pretty close to 14.4. But another thing you should see is how much the voltage dips when you play a song that hits bass really hard. For example my idle is at around 14.7 and when bass hits hard it drops to 14.2 which is still good. Basically as long as you stay above 14. I know some amps have an extra feature that makes them shut off when it goes under 12 volts or so. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
