How to set up wireless internet on a laptop

yes on my desktop computer i have a wireless router and i am running xp i got to wireless setup and hit the maual and give me some shit to type but i dont know where to go from there

try to type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your browser to access the home page of the wireless router maybe you can find the "shit you need to type in" there. What I am trying to tell you you have to be more specific as to what its telling you to type in. Its like some one asking how to fix their car and you not telling you any real details as of why its broken.

um you shouldnt have to type anything thing in manually except for a password if you have the wireless connection secured.

Enable your wifi adapter it will put an icon in your system tray. Click on that icon and click search for networks. Click on your network connection and hit connect. If its secure it will ask you for the password.

the information that your desktop gave you to enter is for networking the two computers together wirelessly.

If you are just wanting to use the internet you do not need any of that info.

Do you have an icon on the bottom right of you screen that looks like a monitor with waves coming off of it? If so, right click on it and click on the tab that says veiw wireless networks. Let us know what comes up.

You need to click the start button, then settings, then control panel, then network connections, then view available wireless connections and click on the one that is yours. It should connect automatically. If you want to set up a password so no one else can use it, you will need to go into the router itself through the IP address as already stated.
