how to set my gain and q bass . for 12w6v2

i have the sub wiered for 2 ohms. and i have a ppi dcx 500/1 amp now it was sounding fine but now i went to adjust the gain alittle to get a little more power to the sub and if i turn the gain any louder than half way up it sounds like *** the q bass i have set any where form 3to 5 klicks for the full 18 db. ive been adjusting it a little and ive been messing with the eq and sub setting on my head unit. at two ohms i should be putting out around 250 to 300 rms al least. and the sub is rated for 400 rms i know with a ported box you can reach the subs max alot easier. can some one explian why i cant turn the gain up any more???

set ypur gains with an o-scope or dmm...if your not you are just hurting your amp and sub...

whats an o scope? a dmm and by dmm you mean digital multi meeter?

i would turn the bass boost completely off and take some time and read the amp gain how to on top of the page. alot of usefull reading there. using a dmm ( digi multi meter) or an oscilloscope you can set your amps correctly.
