How to Run rearfill while going active?

It depends on what other equipment you are running. What other equipment are you running? Do you have the processing and amplification to time align the rearfill drivers (midbass drivers IMO)?

It's a waste of time, if you are using rear fill, as actual rear fill your gaining nothign by going active. Your not going to improve your sounstage a bit.

i dont think its a complete waste of time if using just a midbass driver....if set properly with TA and xovers it maybe beneficial for him personally if he likes the sound, but it doesnt look like he will have the processing ability to do so. I personally wouldnt do rearfill //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif but since he asked....

FYI ! if you need more processing power I have an EQX for sale CHEAP!... see the link in my sig.

I am with you on rear fill, but it is difficult to do properly. (and highly debated)

Another option is the way I have mine set up:

Front stage active off a 4 channel amp

Rear stage on a separate amp with a toggle switch for the trigger, so I only turn on the rear fill when in the mood to get LOUD //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

^^^^^ Which is why you're better off without rear speakers. Doing it wrong leaves you worse off from a freq response, image and stage perspective than not doing it at all. Of course any room effects that are supposed to be present are already in the stereo recording and will be reproduced accurately by a proper front stage...

I plan on going active in my next setup , i guess to please me i need a really loud frontstgae, im planning on running the 6.5" ID horn componenets, or if i want to go cheaper maybe thinking about the tang bang midbass with some parts express tweeter, still up in the air depends on how the money goes

If you don't listen LOUD all the time I'd just build a NICE SQ front stage and add something like I did for when the mood strikes. Only took a few minutes playing with the gain on the rear amp, so when playing VERY loud soundstage is still in front of me, but it sounds MUCH louder/fuller.

Personally not all that worried about perfect imaging, staging, etc... just like it to sound good to me and get very loud at times while still sounding good.

I've demoed my system for plenty of people, most with systems in their cars, and NONE have ever commented on the rear fill being a bad thing. They all just comment on how loud and clean sounding it is, even at VERY high volumes.

Or you could build a KILLER front stage as you mentioned as that will skin the cat also.....
