I have a MTX 5601 Mono amplifier with two 12" subs. I am adding 4 speakers to my car and would like to amplify them as well. I have a 2003 Toyota 4runner with the JBL 10 speaker system.
I also have an Alpine CDE-9881 with 6 connectors on the back for up to 3 amps.
The problem is that the JBL system has its own amp for all the speakers in the car and is taking up 2 of the 3 spots and my current amp taking up the 3rd. The spot where the MTX is hooked to says subwoofers underneith and the other 2 say front and rear speakers. Would I be able to put a Y connector on the RCA cables to the MTX and run the new sub to the new speakers or would that only give me a bass sound? Or could I run 2 new RCA cables and put a Y on to the cables going to the stock amp?
On a side note. If I could run a 3rd amp in my car would I need a cap? It will be a 400watt amp to power 4 100watt speakers and 2 tweeters. My MTX is 300watt.
