I have an 01 Elantra GLS and i want to use 2/0 wire to ground my battery. How is it to do this and will i need a jack to lift up the car and get under it or can i do it all under the hood? Where is a good spot to ground it?
Disconnect the positive:eyebrow:everytime i disconnect my yellow top's neg terminal and put it back on, it makes a big spark as soon as i contact it and takes a little chunk of metal out of the post. whats that all about?
i thought you were always supposed to disconnect the NEGATIVE battery terminal?? also i've heard of using some kind of gel on the post to prevent it from sparking.Disconnect the positive:eyebrow:
You are. But when re-grounding a battery, you need to disconnect both terminals. Having the power connected while attempting to re-ground will cause sparks. The gel you heard about is most likely the gel used to prevent corrosion. Keeps the connection clean of rust, acid...i thought you were always supposed to disconnect the NEGATIVE battery terminal?? also i've heard of using some kind of gel on the post to prevent it from sparking.

Yep. You don't want the positive connected when fiddiling around with the ground.disconnect all connnections to the battery, then create your new ground, connect your positive, then connect your negative.
Hahah so did I....it was after I added an amp to...so I was like oh great what did I do wrong lolz...but yea... spark is normal. i got scared when i first re-connected my neg.
